Brighton Center to Host Free Pathways to Inclusion Conference for Early Childhood Educators

For Immediate Release

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, June 17, 2025 — Brighton Center, the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to serving children with disabilities in San Antonio, will host its third Pathways to Inclusion conference on Saturday, June 21, from 9 am to 1 pm at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. The free event is designed to equip teachers, administrators, and staff with strategies to create inclusive early childhood classrooms where every child of any ability can learn, develop, and grow.

Supported by a generous grant from Community First Health Plans and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, the conference aims to provide practical resources and expert guidance to foster environments that support children of all abilities.

Each year, Brighton Center serves more than 4,000 children with disabilities and developmental delays through pediatric therapy, preschool programs, and advocacy efforts. Recognizing the ongoing challenges educators face in building inclusive settings, the organization developed the Pathways to Inclusion series to explore how pediatric intervention and early childhood education intersect.

“Brighton Center is dedicated to ensuring children with disabilities and developmental and learning delays succeed academically,” said Tina Galindo, Inclusion and Clinic Director at Brighton Center. “We collaborate with parents, caregivers, therapists, educators, along with local preschool and daycare centers, to provide resources like this conference, which opens clear pathways to inclusion within a complex system. This initiative would not be possible without the support of Community First Health Plans.”

Galindo added that the conference offers valuable insights into topics such as early childhood intervention strategies, communication and play, and ensuring smooth transitions into local school districts.

If your center is struggling to support children of all abilities in your classroom, we invite you to join us for a half-day training where Brighton experts take you on a powerful learning journey on what an inclusive preschool looks like, strategies for communication and play, along with creating smooth transitions into your local school district. Spots are limited to 120 professionals.

Conference sessions will cover how Early Childhood Intervention programs serve as resources, inclusive preschool practices, early intervention therapy for development, communication and play strategies, and creating smooth transitions into school districts.

Presenters include Amy Altamirano, director of Early Childhood Intervention Services; Girasol Margain, consultant and trainer for special education support; and Emily Hernandez, pediatric speech language pathologist at Brighton Center’s Pediatric Therapy Clinic.
